PsycExplorer - What's Happening Now in Psychology app good for
but: not many motivational / industrial psychology articles..
This app is truly amazing. In addition to providing the latest news in psychology, it organizes the information into categories which are really helpful in stemming info overload. Useful videos and podcasts as well as articles will keep psychology enthusiasts, students, and educators both informed and entertained. The interface is simple and intuitive.
I absolutely love this app and am surprised there are no reviews. It presents a well chosen collection of psych articles, podcasts, and videos on psychology-related topics. The curator gleans from a variety of online sources, and highlights suicide, aging, depression, neurobiology, gender identity, sexual orientation, new research findings, psych-related changes in government policy and programs, and a wide variety of other topics. This is a great app for anyone interested in mental health, whether professional or lay person.
Some bad moments
This is a great resource for PSYC instructors at all levels. Lots of current videos, links, and research at your fingertips and ready to use in class. Conveniently organized by topics found in most intro texts. You definitely want to download (and use) this app!
PsycExplorer is a nifty tool that brings together a variety of video, audio, and text sources of current information in a range of psychological science topics. It scans high quality sources to put them at your fingertips, categorized by subdiscipline (e.g., personality, therapy, cognitive, critical thinking, etc.). Allows email forwards and tweeting of entries. The only limitation I note is that you can only browse content in the predefined categories. There is no search feature. I really enjoy it, particularly when I have some free time, for entering a category and scrolling through the many entries to look for interesting new reports.
Disclaimer: I was, by way of a general invitation to a psychology professors listserv, invited to review a beta version of this app. In exchange, I received a free copy of the app. However, if I did not like the app in the first place, I would not have installed and used it. This review, to the best of my knowledge, accurately reflects the app and does not omit any issue other than the one mentioned.
This much-needed, psych-infused app is great as is and has fantastic potential for being the iPhone/iPad-based place to go for all things psychology. The app provides blurbs about interesting topics in the different subdisciplines of psychology, and then directs you to sites, articles, and videos that provide more information about the topics. An excellent app.
As a psych nerd, I was very pleased with this app. Michael Britt did a great job compiling any important psychology information in the news into one simple, convenient application. Definitely worth the purchase for any fan of the subject.
This is a great app. Lots of information and its easy to find what you are looking for. Worth it!
A great way to keep up with the latest research findings and all-around cool stuff in psychology. Very cool!!
